FAQ

Where is Sprouts located?

We are located at:

13190 Hazel Dell Pkwy
Unit 100
Carmel, IN 46033

Do I drop-off my child or stay?

Sprouts is a drop-off class (unless of course it is a *designated* Mommy and Me style class).  After a lot of experience, we feel this creates the best learning environment for the children and avoids a lot of distractions in the classroom.  We do have a “Family Dinner” on the last night of each semester class where parents are invited to come into the school and sample some of their child’s cooking!

Are the classes divided by ages or are all the ages mixed?

Students are divided into 3 age groups.  Lil Sprouts (Ages 3-5), Junior Sprouts (Ages 6-8), and Tween Sprouts (Ages 9-13).

What ages do you teach?

Sprouts classes are for children ages 3-13.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, we do!  Gift cards are available for purchase in any denomination through our website.  Once your request has been submitted, we will mail the gift card to the recipient! http://www.sproutscookingschool.com/gift-card/

Do you have a group rate or do you offer private events?

Yes, we do, although available dates are limited to when the studio isn’t otherwise booked. If you have a Brownie or Girl Scout troop, a mom’s group, or if you simply want to schedule a class with a group of friends, you can absolutely contact us to schedule a private event! We require a minimum of 9 students to book a private event and we offer a 10% group pricing discount.

Do you offer birthday parties?

Yes!  We would love to help plan the perfect party to celebrate your child!

Do you offer Mommy-and-Me cooking classes?

Yes, we will offer Mommy-and-Me classes beginning this fall!

How can I stay up-to-date on events?

We have several options! First, you can always check back on our website for updates. Also, we try to post everything to social media sites as well, so be sure to “Like” us on Facebook and “Follow Us” on Instagram and Twitter. Sprouts also has a YouTube channel that includes videos of some of our recipes. You can also sign up for our e-Newsletter! If all else fails, feel free to contact us directly.

What is your inclement weather policy?

Snow happens, rain happens, but we cook on! Unless there is a travel “WARNING” issued for Hamilton County, we will remain open and class will be in session. In the very rare instance that we are closed, customer purchases will be transferred to another class. If there is inclement weather and class is in session and you make the decision to not come to class unfortunately your purchase cannot be credited towards another class. We do not issue refunds.

Will my child eat the food they prepare in class?

Absolutely!!! Students will eat all the food they make in class.  Sometimes, a food is new to a child but we encourage all of our students to try at least one bite of the food they prepare!

Do you offer refunds/ What is your cancellation policy?

Here at Sprouts, we are unique in that the food for our classes is ordered well in advance of each class. We also purchase food (and staff our teachers) based upon the number of children participating in each class.  Also, we only have limited space for each of our classes, so once a spot for a class is sold, that means someone else can’t purchase that spot.  Due to these operational costs and and the fact that our food is perishable, all purchases are FINAL and NON-REFUNDABLE.  No-shows or cancellations within 48-hours of the class will NOT be credited as food will have already been purchased and we will have already staffed for the event.  However, we are also understanding that kids do get sick or that plans may change for unforeseen reasons.  If this happens and you expect to miss an ENTIRE camp (i.e., all 4 days), semester class (i.e., all 3-4 weeks), or single session class, we simply require that you provide Sprouts with WRITTEN notice 48 hours prior to your missed event (Please note: for camps and semester classes, we do NOT offer makeup classes for individual sick days that are missed).  If you have to miss an ENTIRE camp, semester or class, and you have notified us within 48-hours, we will keep the credit of your purchase on file for one (1) year after the date of original purchase, and this amount can be applied towards any future camp, class, or birthday party. However please note,  if you need to change to a different class for any reason, you will be charged a $15 change order fee per student registered.

What does a typical Sprouts class look like?

A typical Sprouts class is two hours long. During that time, children will learn about food basics and develop culinary skills that allow them to try new recipes and gain the confidence to prepare foods at home. In total, students will make 3 to 4 recipes per class, and they will also take home a recipe card of one of the dishes that they have learned in class that day so they can practice the recipe at home with their parents.

Does my child need to bring anything with him/her to class?

All your child needs to bring is a LABELED water bottle, as they do get thirsty when they eat and cups tend to spill…a lot! 😉  We do all of the grocery shopping, classroom setup, cooking prep, and clean up! All you need to provide is your Sprouting Chef!

Is it safe?

Absolutely! Our school strives to provide an interactive, safe, and exciting environment for our kids. Sprouting Chefs use age-appropriate culinary tools in preparing their food and will receive the appropriate level of adult guidance and support to successfully make their recipes.
